If You Build It....

HEAPS of new S-Works frames have just arrived and now adorn the ceiling. Exotic, exclusive, waiting to become a complete bike. We just stare at them and imagine what they will soon become. These are performance workhorses of a rare kind. All these skeletons need is a bit of kit, a pair of wheels, some flesh and bone, then it's just you and the road.

We believe that's what it's all about. Bikes are simple in nature, so boundaries are perpetually being pushed to maximize that core platform to it's highest capable performance. The S-Works range of bike is the pursuit of that. It's the the combination of rider and engineer. These bikes are examples of the finest available products currently in the sport. The photos don't do them justice, and neither does hanging from the shop ceiling strung up by gear cables. This can be the year.

These frames are limited runs, special editions one of a kinds.

When Weight is all that Matters....

We get lots of cool new stuff through the shop every week. But every so often, something so gnarly shows up that we just have to share it.

S-Works Toupe Saddle

Check out this sliver of carbon fused to a minimal amount of padding on two hollow carbon rails.

S-Works, Tour De Cure and Dream Bikes

March was a fun month at the shop. Specialized has sponsored a number of racers for this year's Tour De Cure, and it has brought those racers through our doors searching for the ultimate bike for the job. A number of S-Works have (briefly) come and (quickly) gone. We've seen a few 2012 Roubaix, a Venge, and, below, a gorgeous featherweight Tarmac.

S-Works customers know what they're after before even stepping foot on our shop floor. The evidence that these bikes are the best in the industry built for top world competitors is in races being won around the world; Christoph Sauser and Burry Stander recently won the Abasa Cape Epic, riding Specialized Epic 29ers  and securing it by a whopping 27 minute margin over 780km.

SPECIALIZED CAMBER RIDE DAY, MT. BULLER, VICTORIA

This past week, six Specialized dealers from around Australia along with members of the Specialized HQ team from Melbourne and California converged at the top of Mt. Buller, Victoria, three hours North of Melbourne.

The team dispatched a stable of the ultimate no-nonsense trail machine: Camber. Seeing a lineup of these freshly built weapons, they screamed out to be pushed to the limit. Neither bike nor rider were satisfied being stationary for long.

Camber Pro's at the gate

HQ: The Lodge

There was palatable excitement early in the morning; on our arrival the previous evening we had the great pleasure of meeting the man who has spent the last few years designing and building these trails up and down and around these mountains, hundreds of kilometers of singletrack.

Early morning gear-up

Tyre fitting: Front - Purgatory 2.3,  Rear - The Captain 2.0

This bike was designed for the trail riding experience. A nimble climber, Camber's super-light frame and component group never feels like 'too much bike'. To get to the summit, the group climbed for a full hour through switchbacks and narrow singletrack. A formidable feat for a 120mm travel chassis. After that there was the inevitable any wholly anticipated downhill run, which for a bike that climbed so shockingly well ate up every berm and kicker along the way.

Pushing it through

Stoked! Top of the mountain

This bike ended up impressing everyone who rode it last week. At $1999, it can be your start into the dual suspension world, or rig up all the way to the Pro Carbon for the best of the best. We're stocking the whole range at Manly Cycles right now. Can't wait till the next trip to the mountain!

Ask yourself, WHY CAMBER?

'It’s not that the suspension feels like there’s more travel than there actually is, it’s mainly the sorted handling of the Camber that makes a difference. Even when the fork and back end are clearly getting out of their depth, the bike still manages to hold its line. You’re certainly likely to find yourself thinking long and hard about how much travel you actually need'

'There’s no doubt that Specialized’s designers have performed a minor miracle shoehorning all the important stuff into a big-wheeled bike and making it ride so well'

HELMET SALE: STILL HERE BUT GOING QUICK

We still have a selection of Specialized Propero, S-Works, and S-Works MT helmets at huge price reduction.

Sizes and colours are limited! Get yourself a new lid for as little as $79!

Did you know >>>>

'The Snell Institute recommends replacing your helmet every five years. "There will be a noticeable improvement in the protective characteristic of helmets over a five-year period due to advances in materials, designs, production methods and the standards," SI explains. Manufacturers put UV inhibitors in helmets to prevent structural degradation. If colors are fading, the UV inhibitors are failing and the structural integrity might be compromised. Replace faded helmets as soon as possible'
